IAEA: Emergency situation occurred around Chernobyl

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that an emergency situation has been detected in the area surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. In a written statement, it was reported that the IAEA team in Chernobyl was awakened on Thursday morning by the sound of numerous explosions and subsequently detected several drones in the Exclusion Zone, approximately 5 kilometers from the facility. The sounds were attributed to anti-aircraft fire.
IAEA Director Rafael Mariano Grossi, whose comments were included in the statement, emphasized his deep concern over the increasing drone activity reported near nuclear facilities. "I reiterate my call for military forces to exercise maximum restraint to prevent a nuclear accident," Grossi said.
The statement also noted that over the past week, the IAEA team at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant reported hearing reports of military activity almost daily.
It was stated that difficulties in providing reliable cooling water continue, and that the "loss of cooling" that may occur due to water depletion is a serious concern for nuclear safety.
