Meaningful action plan from the Turkish Cycling Federation

In a written statement, the federation emphasized that with the recent increase in cyclist deaths in Turkey, the issue of cyclist safety in traffic has once again become a hot topic. The statement explained that the Bicycle Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety Board has prepared a comprehensive action plan for cyclist safety in cooperation with relevant institutions. The following was noted: “The prominent steps of the plan, prepared with a vision of zero deaths, include public service announcements and awareness campaigns, the addition of cycling to the education curriculum, strengthening traffic inspections and fines, lowering city speed limits, safe training corridors, and the development of the national bike path network. The federation will also continue to raise cyclist awareness through official races and social media. The Turkish Bicycle Federation will be a constant follower of this process.”
