Saadet Işıl Aksoy described the harassment she suffered over the years

Saadet Işıl Aksoy, who has starred in many successful productions throughout her career, shared a post on her Instagram account about the purse snatching incident she experienced when she was 14-15 years old.
The famous actor's full post is as follows:
"I was 14 or 15 years old, and one evening, on my way home from a weekend, I was snatched. Because I was too scared to look back at the car that was slowly pulling up next to me, and because I only knew how to walk quietly and look straight ahead whenever I was harassed, they easily reached out and pulled my bag. I was dragged on the ground next to the car for a while.
I had been abused in so many ways by that age that I remember being grateful for such a traumatic event. I thought, "It's a good thing it wasn't abuse this time, it's a good thing they didn't mean to touch me."
It was common for someone you didn't know to suddenly approach you and touch you while walking down the street. So, as young women, we all had tendencies that permeated our daily lives. For example, if a man was approaching, we'd change sides of the street. Or on public transportation, always turn your back to an unoccupied area and shield the front of your body with your bag. After I started driving, I even learned how to easily dodge cars when being followed. As I got older, the harassment continued to evolve, and my own self-defense strategies constantly evolved as well. I always developed strategies that were more advanced than the ones I'd previously developed to protect myself.
Today, I carry within me the hope that my daughter will no longer need to build these walls in her own life, and this rises like the sun upon my soul. Because we are now talking. Because we don't accept it. Because we don't fall for the manipulation of, "What was she doing there at that hour?" I embrace with compassion every woman who speaks, or who cannot, but who I am certain has experienced that terrible feeling.
