New military service law on the agenda in Germany! It also includes Turks

The German government has tabled a new bill that proposes radical changes to military service. The largely voluntary Military Service Bill (Wehrdienstgesetz), drafted by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, reintroduces compulsory conscription for 18-year-old males.
IF VOLUNTARY APPLICATIONS ARE INSUFFICIENT, IT MAY BECOME MANDATORY
According to Bild newspaper, the German army (Bundeswehr) aims to increase its current strength from 183,000 to 260,000 soldiers in the coming years, and to create a 200,000-strong reserve force. However, if volunteer applications are insufficient, the regulation could become mandatory. According to the draft Military Service Law, starting January 1, 2026, all 18-year-old males will be required to complete an online questionnaire. Participation will be voluntary for women. As of July 1, 2027, the roll call will be mandatory for men. Approximately 200,000 young people will take health and fitness tests each year. Those who refuse to take the questionnaire or roll call will be fined.HERE ARE THE SALARIES
The bill also increases salaries and support to attract young people to the military. The current gross monthly payment of €1,840 will be increased to €2,700. Housing, food, train travel, and healthcare will be free. Those who serve at least 12 months will receive a €3,500 driver's license support. Those who extend their term will receive a €150 monthly bonus. The government aims to reach 20,000 volunteers by 2026 and 38,000 by 2030. All soldiers will be automatically enrolled in the reserve forces. The annual cost is projected to rise from €495 million in 2026 to €849 million in 2029. According to the bill, if volunteer applications do not reach the targeted level, compulsory military service can be reintroduced with parliamentary approval.Source: ANKA
