AKP deputy's son sentenced to prison for transporting drugs in a Turkish Parliament vehicle

Muhammed Tayyip Zenbilci, son of AKP Adana MP Ahmet Zenbilci, was caught drug dealing in a vehicle registered with the Turkish Grand National Assembly on September 29, 2024. 25 kilograms and 850 grams of marijuana were seized in the vehicle. Zenbilci was also caught smoking marijuana behind the wheel. His father, Ahmet Zenbilci, announced his resignation from the party following the incident, saying, "I resign so that the judicial process does not cast a shadow over my party and my colleagues." Zenbilci later quietly returned to the AKP.
A verdict was also issued regarding his son, Muhammed Tayyip Zenbilci. According to Objektifa, Zenbilci was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison and a fine of 833,000 Turkish Lira for drug trafficking.
