The Republican People's Party ( CHP ) held its first-ever "National Will" rally abroad. The 61st "National Will" gathering was held at Place Jean Rey, home to the headquarters of several key EU institutions, including the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attended a rally in Brussels , Belgium. The gathering, which drew large crowds of expatriates living in neighboring countries such as Belgium, Germany, France, and the Netherlands, included slogans in support of the imprisoned CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and other mayors. The government was also called upon to resign.
At the Brussels meeting, messages of solidarity with Ekrem İmamoğlu and the imprisoned mayors were read from Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony, Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis, Timişoara Mayor Dominic Fritz, Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker, and Frankfurt City Council President Hilime Arslaner.
Brussels Mayor Philippe Close also joined the meeting via video message. CHP Belgian Union President Derya Bulduk, European Green Party Co-Chair Vula Tsetsi, and European Socialist Party Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck expressed their demands for İmamoğlu and his colleagues' freedom. A letter from CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently incarcerated in Silivri Prison, was read by CHP Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke.
EVERYTHING WILL BE GREATEkrem İmamoğlu said the following in his message: “My dear citizens, my friends, brothers and sisters living in Europe… I know that part of your mind and heart is always in Türkiye. Believe me, our minds and hearts are always with you too. Because this country is connected not only by borders; it is a country with faith, love and hope. Today, I am calling out to you again from Silivri. But I know that my voice resonates here, in the heart of Europe, in your hearts. In these difficult times, there are three words in all of our minds and hearts: Democracy, justice and courage. These three survive by holding on to each other. Because today, it requires courage not only to demand democracy and justice, but also to not remain silent in the face of injustice and the taking away of our democratic rights. The European Union was once formed with this courage. With the great courage shown by war-weary peoples for peace, freedom and human dignity. Turkey will determine its path in accordance with the common interests of the nation, not of this or that person, this or that party. Turkey will determine its path; It will grow, prosper, strengthen, and share fairly with the power of justice, equality, and fraternity. Being a citizen of the Republic of Turkey will be a privilege envied and respected around the world. We will trust each other. We will never leave a single friend behind. We will stand shoulder to shoulder and tirelessly proclaim the words that make them tremble when they hear them: Everything will be wonderful! Everything will be wonderful! Everything will be wonderful! I embrace you all with longing and longing.
BAN-FREE Türkiye IS ON THE BALLOT BOXCHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement at the rally in Brussels. Here are the highlights from Özgür Özel's statements: "This square today says a lot to us and to Turkey. Contrary to what some people belittle, the Turks in Europe are not people who don't think about their country; they are heroes who have something to say for Turkey and its future. After March 19th, they came together 60 times in Istanbul and across Turkey. At first, they thought we were holding a rally , but they said, 'They'll gather and disperse.' But every Wednesday, we held hundreds of thousands in a district of Istanbul, and every weekend in a province of Turkey, the most historic rallies in that city. Because what we did was not a rally, but an action. We came to stand up for our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been innocently imprisoned for 207 days, for mayor Zeydan Karalar, just like in Adana, for our 16 mayors, for all political prisoners in Turkey, for Selahattin Demirtaş, for Figen Yüksekdağ, and for anyone who is in prison because of their thoughts. We said, 'I've gotten rid of one, let the other one be next.' We are here to say to those who are trying to target President Mansur, "Come to your senses, Mansur Yavaş is not alone."
When he's the one who's been couped, he expects solidarity from the world. When he's the one who's perpetrated the coup, he says, "Don't tell the world about it." By God, I will tell you, by God, I will tell you, and I won't back down a single step. The AK Party government has now begun working for Trump. The legitimacy it couldn't find at home, in Europe, or around the world, it's now searching for it at the gates of the White House and the Oval Office. It's lost the nation's support. It's made everything in the country a bargaining chip.
I promise you a "longing ticket" that you can use every year to come back to your hometown for a holiday, marking down the cheapest winter ticket once and using it on any day of the year. Whatever the cheapest, lowest-priced winter ticket is, you can buy that ticket once and use it on any day of the year. There's a 16% invisible glass ceiling above our heads in Belgium. Today is the day. Are you ready to shatter Belgium's glass ceiling by multiplying, uniting, and determinedly uniting?
