Ministry of Treasury and Finance: Investor meeting claims are unfounded

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that the allegations made by a journalist regarding the closed-door investor meetings held by Minister Mehmet Şimşek in London last week were “completely unfounded” and “do not reflect the truth.” The ministry made a written statement on the subject. The statement said, “The meetings were also attended by senior executives of the main regulator BNP Paribas and the Turkish Economy Bank, and the fact that these allegations are untrue can be confirmed by the individuals in question.” The statement stated that legal action would be initiated against the journalist who “shared false and distorted information in order to mislead the public.” On the other hand, Minister Şimşek also quoted the ministry’s statement and shared, “We are tired of making denials, while some have not given up on making unfounded claims.”
