After being extracted from underground, amber, a fossilized tree resin, is turned into necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and rosaries in the hands of Bayram İpek, the city's only gemstone cutter.
İpek, who traces the amber found in stone form in nature, selects amber one by one and extracts it from the earth, which can be mixed with different stones.

Emphasizing that amber is difficult to distinguish in nature, İpek said, "We extract Bayburt amber, which rivals gold per gram, in its purest form from nature, take it to our workshop, and turn it into jewelry, necklaces, and prayer beads. This doesn't mean that every stone is amber, and it's very difficult to distinguish in nature. If you see the structure of the stone, you'll understand what I mean."

İpek, noting that amber of various colors can be found in many regions of Bayburt and that he extracts it himself, said, "Mining amber and processing it into jewelry is a laborious task. I've been working on this for many years. I've extracted amber of various colors from various regions of Bayburt. I strive to bring this to the economy and offer it to the public."
