Erdoğan pinned the badge on Özlem Vural Gürzel

Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, who resigned from the CHP, had joined the AKP. It was notable that AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan did not wear the party badge on Çerçioğlu, who joined the AKP on its ninth anniversary. The badge was pinned on Çerçioğlu by Tuğba Işık Ercan, the head of the AKP Women's Branch.

Çerçioğlu said the following at the badge ceremony:

"Just as I served Aydın, I promise once again that I will serve even more under the auspices of my esteemed President. Let them make allegations against me today and let them explain them. I have never feared the judiciary or being prosecuted. I stand with my head held high. I find it inappropriate, from a political perspective, to disclose the problems I have experienced here. However, if necessary, I will explain them one by one."
