World record from Aysel Önder

National athlete Aysel Önder achieved a historic feat in the 400-meter final at the IPC-approved TAF U23 Turkish Championships held in Izmir. Önder broke the world record with a time of 54.80, earning her place in gold. This time, which improved her previous world record of 54.96, set at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, has her leading the IPC overall rankings.
Birol Aydın, President of the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation, expressed his pride in Önder's success with the following words:
Our national athlete, Aysel Önder, made history by proudly waving the Turkish flag once again. This world record is the greatest testament to her determination, discipline, and faith. I also wholeheartedly congratulate our athlete's esteemed coach, Damla Tan. This record broken today heralds even greater victories ahead of the IPC Para Athletics World Championships to be held in New Delhi, India, from September 23 to October 6, 2025; we will continue to be her strongest supporter throughout this journey.
