Oruç Reis in Türkiye

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Oruç Reis, which set off from Filyos Port on October 4 of last year, successfully completed its 234-day mission in Somalia. Oruç Reis, which collected three-dimensional seismic data in an area of ​​4,464 square kilometers in 3 separate sea blocks of Somalia, ended its mission on June 6. Following the farewell ceremony held in Mogadishu Port, Oruç Reis set off to return home on June 15 and reached the Mediterranean by passing the Suez Canal. Oruç Reis is planned to pass through the Dardanelles Strait on the morning of July 2 and the Bosphorus Strait on the morning of July 3. Following the strait passages, Oruç Reis is expected to anchor at Filyos Port on July 4.

ACCOMPANYING THE NAVY

In addition to the Zağanos Paşa Support Ship, the Sancar Support Ship and the Ataman Pursuit Ship, the frigates TCG Giresun and TCG Göksu from the navy and the Military Logistics Support Ship TCG First Lieutenant Arif Ekmekçi are also accompanying Oruç Reis on his return journey.

After its approximately 9-month mission, the ship will dock in Filyos and undergo maintenance and repair. After the necessary work is completed, it will be ready for its new mission.

LOCAL AND NATIONAL

Built in 2017 with local and national resources, Oruç Reis is capable of being used in continental shelf and crustal research as well as in the exploration of natural resources. Also, with a length of 87 meters, a width of 23 meters and a height of 34 meters, Oruç Reis can conduct both two- and three-dimensional seismic research activities in underwater oil and natural gas exploration activities.
