Will banks be open on September 15 and 16, 2025, in Mexico?

National holidays always generate excitement and, at the same time, questions about the functioning of essential services in Mexico. Among them, banks are often a recurring topic for those who need to carry out important procedures or payments.
On September 15 and 16, 2025, it's important to know when banks will be open and which days of mandatory rest will apply according to the Federal Labor Law (LFT).
Contrary to popular belief, September 15th is a normal working day. The LFT (Taxpayer's Law) does not consider it an official holiday, which means banks will open their regular hours, without double pay or special adjustments for employees.
If you plan to make deposits, payments, or carry out banking transactions, this Monday will be an ideal opportunity to avoid delays before the official holiday.
September 16th is an official holiday, with mandatory rest according to Article 75 of the LFT (Law on Labor Law). This means that banks will remain closed.
If any employee works on this day, the law establishes that they must be paid triple: their normal salary plus double the salary for the workday. The LFT states:
"Workers will be obligated to provide services and will be entitled to be paid, regardless of their mandatory leave salary, double the salary for the service rendered."
In addition to September 16, banks will also suspend operations on the following dates:
- Monday, November 17: Mexican Revolution Day
- Thursday, December 25: Christmas
Knowing these dates allows you to plan your financial transactions and avoid setbacks with payments, transfers, or banking services.
- Plan your payments and transfers in advance to avoid setbacks.
- Use online banking, which remains operational even during closure days.
- Check special branch hours in tourist cities or areas with high demand.
