Former Arsenal star Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape, English authorities announced on Friday. Partey's contract with last season's Premier League runner-up only expired on Monday.
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape, British police announced on Friday.
Partey is also charged with one count of sexual assault, which allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Police said the investigation began in February 2022 when they first received a rape complaint. The five rape allegations relate to two different women. The sexual assault allegation relates to a third woman.
Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 5, according to police.
The 32-year-old midfielder is currently without a club after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of last season. He joined the Premier League club from Spanish club Atletico Madrid in 2020 for around €52.5 million.
