Khartoum Airport reopened to civilian flights after 921 days

Khartoum International Airport , overshadowed by clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) , has reopened to civilian air traffic after 921 days . A statement on the airport's official website read, " A Badr Airlines plane has just landed at Khartoum International Airport ."
The statement emphasized that the airport officially reopened with this flight, adding, " This development is an important step in the recovery process of the Sudanese aviation sector and the gradual revival of air transportation ."
A Badr Airlines flight carrying passengers departed from Port Sudan and returned to the eastern city after a brief landing. The airport was one of the first targets of the conflict on April 15, 2023 , and was heavily damaged.

The army has regained control of the capital, Khartoum, and the central part of the country, while NGO troops have withdrawn to western regions.
