With the increasing wave of people's objections against the Palace regime, all segments of society, especially the youth, continue their resistance wherever they are present.
Aksoy Research President Ertan Aksoy evaluated the effects of the rising social opposition after the March 19 Palace coup and the regime’s roadmap to BirGün TV as follows: “This process they created, the situation they brought the country to, makes the opposition’s job difficult in Turkey, but the government’s job is much more difficult. Contrary to what they think, the opposition is not paralyzed in the face of all these injustices, on the contrary, it has passed the test with a strong result.
The first phase of this was the protests on the streets that started in front of Saraçhane and continued to many parts of the country. This was also stopped at the right time and later, with the rallies, this process was no longer an objection of only the youth, only the students, but spread to wider segments of society. As you can see, new protests are now coming from farmers, workers or other segments of the population, civil servants, and retirees. That is why the government has not yet been able to get what it wants from this process.
How do the people evaluate the performance of the CHP after March 19?
As you can appreciate, research companies are studying many topics. One of these topics is the state of being satisfied with the parties they vote for. The opposition's state of being satisfied with the party the voters voted for, especially in the CHP, shows us the exact opposite of what the government hopes for, as expected. Moreover, there is a very determined opposition group. On the other hand, the fact that the statements made and the things shared as evidence are completely empty is turning into a big problem in the conscience of the society. This is not only in the conscience of the voters who voted for the opposition, as it is thought, but also in a significant part of the voters who voted for the government, although not all of them are considered to be empty, these claims are accepted to be empty. Therefore, in that 60-40 block, in the block between the opposition and the government, there is a transition back towards the opposition.
Can we say that the government is losing its supporters?
The core part is still there, but we are faced with a questioning and a burden on the conscience of the group of voters who voted for the government and do not have a great commitment, do not have a sense of belonging but whose preferences are more heavily weighted by the government. In particular, not only Mr. İmamoğlu, but also district mayors were arrested. The vast majority among them think that the decisions are political. They think that there is no trial based on law.
