Kartal Municipality Supports Forest Fire Response in Silivri

Kartal Municipality teams, who participated in the firefighting with 1 fully equipped search and rescue vehicle, 1 support vehicle, 15-ton water tanker and 10 expert personnel, undertook tasks such as cooling works in the field, water reinforcement to the fire line and ensuring area security.

Working in coordination with fire extinguishing teams, the teams also played an active role in the fight to stop the fire line approaching residential areas.

Kartal Municipality also provided material and personnel support to the forest fire that started in İzmir Seferihisar and spread to a large area in recent days. The teams are still actively working in the region as part of the firefighting.

Kartal Mayor Gökhan Yüksel thanked his teammates who worked at the fires in Silivri and Seferihisar and made the following statements:

“It is as important to act quickly and effectively during intervention as it is to be prepared for disasters. The fires that are taking place are burning a hole in our hearts as a country, and as Kartal Municipality, we continue to shoulder responsibility in disasters both in our own region and across the country.

“We displayed the same reflexes that we showed in Seferihisar and continue to show, this time in Silivri. I would like to thank all my teammates who worked hard in the field. I hope that we will encounter such disasters less often; but we will continue to be ready wherever needed.”
