Two neighborhoods in the Geyve district of Sakarya were evacuated as a precaution due to the fire.
Following the fire, which broke out in a forested area in the Hacılar neighborhood, the Forest Management Directorate and firefighters were dispatched to the area. Firefighters are continuing to work with excavators, water trucks, and heavy equipment in the Taşoluk and Hacılar neighborhoods, which were evacuated after the flames spread.
Crews are working to extinguish the fire in three homes engulfed in flames in the evacuated Taşoluk neighborhood. Animals have been moved to a safe zone in the neighborhood, and village residents are also helping with the firefighting efforts.
Neighborhood resident Mustafa Çam told reporters that the villagers were doing their best to combat the flames, saying, " We did everything we could to cool this village, but it wasn't enough. Currently, 22 households remain. Three houses burned down, and the village has been completely evacuated. " Çam stated that the danger had been eliminated due to the evacuation of the village, and that it wasn't possible to intervene in every forest fire.
The work of the Regional Directorate of Forestry, fire departments and aid organizations, which have come to the region from surrounding provinces and districts, continues.
