Letter from Zeydan Karalar to Altan Öymen: I apologize!

Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar, who was arrested during the operations against CHP-run municipalities and is in Silivri Prison, apologized for not being able to attend the funeral of former CHP Chairman Altan Öymen.

In his letter for Öymen, Karalar said, "As you know, I am in Silivri and I am sorry and apologize for not being able to attend your burial."

Karalar's letter is as follows:

"Our previous Chairman, our elder brother, Mr. Altan Öymen... I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Adana Provincial Congress when you were the Youth Branch Financial Treasurer. I think it was around 1978 or 1979. You were so sincere and noble that I began to respect you then. This humane and noble stance never changed afterward.

I learned of your death from television. As you know, I'm in Silivri, and I'm sorry and apologize for not being able to attend your funeral. May you rest in peace.
