The travel specialist GuruWalk.com has compiled a list of the world's 50 best walking destinations , and Spain stands out with ten cities, one of which is ranked third.

As reported by the Daily Mail , the most walkable destination in the world is Rome , the Italian capital, which stands out for the proximity of its main attractions.

"The Eternal City remains a key destination for travelers fascinated by ancient history. The Colosseum, the Pantheon, and Baroque piazzas make Rome an open-air museum that deserves to be explored thoroughly, step by step," the study says.

In second place is the Hungarian capital, Budapest : "Known as the 'Pearl of the Danube,' Budapest combines imperial architecture with a vibrant cultural scene. Tourists can walk from St. Stephen's Basilica to the Budapest Parliament in just 15 minutes."

Third place goes to Madrid , which, according to the study, "offers the perfect combination of art, urban life, and iconic parks." Barcelona is in fifth place, while Seville is 14th. Toledo is in 16th, Malaga in 26th, Valencia in 28th, Santiago de Compostela in 31st, Granada in 34th, Bilbao in 41st, and Córdoba in 43rd.
