Ray-Ban Display: Zuckerberg launched smart glasses with a screen, heralded the beginning of the post-mobile era, and experienced an awkward moment.

Mark Zuckerberg unveiled his most advanced smartglasses device at Meta Connect 2025 : the new Ray-Ban Display . It's a device that follows the company's (formerly Facebook) commitment to a lifestyle change aimed at combining reality and virtual space without the need for a cell phone .
Meta surprised at its annual Connect 2025 conference with the presentation of glasses that integrate camera, microphones, speakers, artificial intelligence and, for the first time, a high-resolution color display that appears only when the user needs it.
Meta's CEO was in charge of testing these Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses with built-in screens that allow users to view messages, photos, and more , as if they were looking at a cell phone screen.

Zuckerberg claimed it was the company's "most advanced" product in this segment, designed to "keep people connected without having to constantly look at their phones ." In fact, he said AI glasses will eventually replace smartphones.
"Our goal is to create compelling glasses that offer personal superintelligence and a sense of presence using realistic holograms ," he admitted.

Unlike the original models released in 2021 , the Ray-Ban Display isn't limited to capturing photos or live streaming . It now includes a high-resolution side display, 3K Ultra HD video recording at 60 fps with slow motion and hyperlapse options , and a battery life that's doubled to 8 hours of continuous use , with a total of 48 hours thanks to the charging case.
Fast charging also adds to the mix: in just 20 minutes, they recover 50% of the battery.
In terms of design, there will be editions in Cosmic Blue, Mystic Violet, and Asteroid Grey, as well as a matte clear version with Ruby or Brown Mirror Gold lenses.

The glasses come with the Meta Neural Band , an EMG bracelet that translates muscle signals into digital commands. This allows you to control the glasses with subtle hand gestures : swipe, pinch, or rotate your wrist to increase the volume or change the song.
The company emphasized that this technology is inclusive: it can be used by people with reduced mobility, tremors, or physical limitations.
The leap in artificial intelligence is also central. With the "Hey Meta" assistant, users can request live translations —which now include German and Portuguese—activate instant subtitles , or use the new conversation focus mode, which reduces background noise to improve the experience in group chats or crowded places.

The screen displays private notifications, WhatsApp messages, Messenger calls, or even step-by-step directions for pedestrians, a feature designed for moving around without relying on your phone.
Beyond the technical specifications, Meta Connect 2025 also produced a couple of awkward episodes that, as expected, quickly went viral on social media.
During a live demonstration, Zuckerberg attempted to answer a call using the Meta Neural Band's neural interface. After three failed attempts , he ended up laughing at himself and confessing, "I keep screwing up," as the audience applauded with laughter.
Breaking:🚨🇺🇸OUCH: Zuckerberg's live AI demo failed.
