Apple wants to run before it can walk: it plans to replace its own AI with OpenAI and Anthropic to strengthen Siri.

The technology sector is focusing its efforts on the development of Artificial Intelligence. The development of this technology is fundamental to the strategy of the so-called "Magnificent Seven," to the point that Meta has decided to partially acquire ScaleAI, one of the AI services companies that collaborates closely with companies like Google. However, Apple has been left behind in all these advances. To step on the gas and catch up, the firm led by Tim Cook is exploring the possibility of partnering with two of the most powerful AI companies today.
Apple, founded by Steve Jobs, is planning to use AI models developed by OpenAI and Anthropic to enhance the capabilities of Siri, its virtual assistant. Apple, which has struggled to keep pace with the AI race demonstrated by other major tech companies such as Microsoft and Meta, is willing to forgo its own AI technology to use the services of OpenAI and Anthropic.
For now, the iPhone manufacturer is continuing to develop the long-form language model called 'LLM Siri'. However, the firm has contacted OpenAi and Anthropic to train its own AI models so they can adapt to the cloud infrastructure developed by Apple and be tested in this context.
The tech company appears to be looking to shorten its timeline after being forced to delay the launch of an AI-powered version of Siri, initially planned for this year, to 2026 due to technical issues. This has allowed other rivals in the industry to accelerate and gain ground on Apple.
In this regard, it has recently been revealed that Google DeepMind is developing a new version of its AI model used in robots, called "Gemini Robotics," capable of operating offline. This system uses the vision-language-action (VLA) training method, through which a robot executes actions based on commands transmitted through vision or language.
