Trying on hiking boots in the middle of the city?: Now possible in 7 new Decathlon & Globetrotter stores

Anyone looking to buy new gear for their next trip in 2025 can look forward to short distances: Both Decathlon and Globetrotter opened several new stores in central locations this year. The trend: away from the outskirts and toward urban proximity with expert advice and services.

Globetrotter is committed to new ideas: With its new store in Münster , opening in September 2025, the outdoor equipment retailer is further advancing its Re:Think concept. In addition to equipment for trekking, travel, and urban outdoor activities, the store also offers secondhand items , repair services, and a comprehensive testing and consulting system.

In Ulm , an existing location was replaced by a more central and larger space – with a focus on individual support, product selection for ambitious tours as well as space for events and workshops (see pictures above).

The French sporting goods retailer opened new stores in 2025 in Recklinghausen , Stuttgart , Munich, and Frankfurt , among others. More are to follow in the Hessen-Center Frankfurt and Leverkusen. Many of these branches are located directly in pedestrian zones or shopping centers – with A targeted multisport range, including running, biking, and mountaineering. Not only the location is new, but also the concept: repair services, click & collect, product personalization , and app-based advice make the new stores true touchpoints for everyday and adventure needs. The Leverkusen location, in particular, with over 2,700 m² of space, is expected to play a major role in the mountaineering and outdoor training sectors.

The new Decathlon store in the GALERIA space in Konstanz marks the official launch of a strategic collaboration between the two retail companies, which will be rolled out to additional GALERIA locations throughout Germany in the coming months. Across approximately 1,500 square meters of retail space, sports enthusiasts can expect a diverse range of products for over 70 sports – from hiking and cycling to water sports – ideally tailored to the needs of the people in the Lake Constance region.

In Stuttgart , in addition to a new opening on Königsstraße, another Decathlon branch has been located in the Milaneo shopping center since 2022. Over 75 private label brands are available on 2,700 m² of retail space. The product range is aimed particularly at families, but sports and outdoor enthusiasts will also find something to their liking at Decathlon. The focus is on vacation, with products from the mountain sports , running and fitness categories, as well as cycling. A special service point also offers a bicycle repair service.
