Europa League: Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the final

The two English participants also won their return matches. The teams will now meet in Bilbao on May 21. Another English club will be in the Conference League final.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reached the final of the English Europa League . Following a 3-0 victory in the first leg against Athletic Bilbao, the Red Devils also beat the Spanish side 4-1 (0-1) in the return leg. Tottenham won 2-0 (0-0) against Norwegian surprise team FC Bodö/Glimt, having won the first encounter 3-1.
The final will take place on May 21 (9 p.m./RTL) in Bilbao, and the winner will secure a Champions League spot. For Manchester United and Tottenham, it's a great opportunity to salvage what has been a complete disaster for both teams. In the Premier League, the clubs are currently in 15th and 16th place, respectively.
In Manchester, the hosts initially controlled the game – until defender Harry Maguire misplaced a pass. A few seconds later, Mikel Jauregizar gave the visitors the lead (31'). In the second half, however, Mason Mount (72', 90+1), Casemiro (79'), and Rasmus Höjlund (85') turned the game around and ensured that Bilbao 's dream of a final in their own stadium was finally dashed.
In front of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Prince Sverre Magnus, Bodö, the first Norwegian club ever to reach a European semifinal, pushed for the opening goal. However, it didn't come. Instead, Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke put the visitors ahead in the 63rd minute. Shortly after, Pedro Porro sealed the victory in the 69th minute.
The only previous all-English finals in the Europa League or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup, have been in 1972 (Tottenham vs. Wolverhampton) and 2019 (Chelsea vs. Arsenal). For United, this is their first Europa League final since 2021, while Spurs last appeared in the Champions League final in 2019.
Title favorites Chelsea FC comfortably advanced to the final of the Conference League. The London club won their home match against Swedish underdogs Djurgardens IF 1-0 (1-0), building on their 4-1 victory in the first leg of their semifinal. The final of the third-tier European competition will take place on May 28 in Wroclaw, Poland.
Chelsea's opponent is Real Betis, despite Robin Gosens scoring two goals for Fiorentina in the semifinal second leg. In the 2-2 (2-1, 2-1) draw after extra time against Sevilla, the German international headed goals for the home team in the 34th and 42nd minutes, both from corner kicks. However, that wasn't enough for the Italian club to reach the final after their 2-1 first-leg defeat in Spain.
