Groeneveld owns the Rats-Apotheke pharmacy in Norden and has been a member of the LAV (State Association of Pharmacists) since 1996. He served as vice-chairman from 2005 to 2013 and has been chairman of the association since then. From 2017 to 2024, he was also a member of the executive board of the German Pharmacists Association ( DAV ) and the ABDA . Both bodies no longer exist in the new ABDA structure. Groenveld held the position of patient representative for the DAV (German Pharmacists' Association).
The LAV chairman thanked the delegates for their confidence in him for another four years at the head of the association. "We face major challenges. In particular, the next few years will be about improving the economic situation of..." “To improve pharmacies . One of my main tasks will therefore be to continue to advocate for an increase and regular adjustment of pharmacy fees,” Groenveld announced.
Together with his deputies, Groenveld wrote an open letter this week to Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) and Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil (SPD) , accusing them of breaking their word regarding pharmacy fees. Groenveld is convinced that only a financial boost for pharmacies can stop their rapid decline. "I will dedicate myself to this in the coming years."
Frank Germeshausen (Schwan Pharmacy, Duderstadt) and Mathias Grau (Rats Pharmacy, Horneburg) were re-elected to the LAV board as deputy chairmen. Christian Braem-Neuwald (Post Pharmacy, Braunlage), Evelyn Geiter (Antonius Pharmacy, Georgsmarienhütte), Matthias Götzlaff (Flora Pharmacy, Haste), and Mayada Otri-Barakat (Mühlenhof Pharmacy, Oldenburg) serve as board members. The LAV Lower Saxony represents 1,595 pharmacies in Lower Saxony.
