How it works

Experienced radiology specialists (remote operators) operate the MRI scanners from anywhere, either from their home offices or from a central hub. They are responsible for the technical implementation and image acquisition. On-site staff (local operators) assist with patient positioning and preparation and are responsible for their safety and care.

On-site tasks can be performed by both radiology specialists and other medical professionals, such as nurses. This reduces the need for highly specialized personnel.

Optimized staff utilization: A remote operator manages multiple locations simultaneously. Remote scanning leads to more efficient use of expertise within hospital networks or external service providers. Shorter wait times and improved patient access: Remote scanning ensures faster appointment scheduling and 24/7 availability. Higher patient throughput can be achieved with existing staff, while downtime due to staff shortages is reduced.

Remote scanning has been proven to reduce staff shortages, allowing for scheduled scheduling and ensuring consistent revenue.

Past key figures and results from Beyond Imaging (daily operations at 14 locations, 18 MRI scanners connected to the remote scanning network) show a reduction in exam cancellations due to staffing shortages from 8% to 0.3%. The remote scanning share of all MRI examinations was 17%.
