Israel accuses China of arming Hezbollah

Jerusalem/Berlin – The Israeli ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, accuses the Chinese government of rearming the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon. “In recent weeks, Beijing has supplied not only air defense systems but also components for its offensive missile program,” the ambassador told the newspapers of the Funke Media Group (Sunday editions). This is a new development. The Chinese want to exploit Russia’s waning influence to “bind the Iranian government more closely to themselves,” Prosor said. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia opened another front against Israel during the Gaza War, triggering a conflict that claimed almost the entire Hezbollah leadership. Israel is now making the disarmament of Hezbollah a condition for ending the attacks. The Israeli government accuses Hezbollah of rearming and continuing its military activity in the border region.
