|Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe is in crisis, and the parent company is considering divesting itself of its steel subsidiary. Previously, the plan was for a Czech billionaire to acquire a larger stake. Now, surprisingly, another interested party has come forward.
A surprising twist in the drama surrounding Germany's largest steel producer, Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe (TKSE): Indian steel producer Jindal Steel International wants to acquire the troubled Duisburg-based company. Miguel López, CEO of TKSE's parent company Thyssenkrupp, informed his supervisory board of this on Tuesday. Thyssenkrupp announced that Jindal had submitted "a non-binding, indicative offer for the purchase." The Thyssenkrupp Executive Board will now examine the offer in detail, "particularly with regard to its future economic viability, the continuation of the green transformation, and employment at our steel sites."
