They burned an 11-year-old boy's foot as a joke

The incident occurred at around 08:00 on June 13 at a market in the Aşkale district. Emir Ahmet Ünal went to the market where his friend was in the morning. While drinking the drink he bought, his friend poured cologne on his left leg. According to the allegations, the boy then set the cologne on fire with a lighter. Emir, who was suddenly engulfed in flames, ran to the basement of the market in panic. Emir Ahmet Ünal tried to extinguish the flames with his own means. However, the flames quickly spread to his entire body. At this point, the boy's uncle, who was in the market, poured a bucket of water on Emir and extinguished the flames.

'I SHOUTED WATER'

Emir Ahmet Ünal, who had burns on his left leg and hands, was taken to Erzurum City Hospital Burn Center for treatment. Ünal, whose treatment is ongoing, described his experiences as follows:

“In the morning, my friend and I went to the market. While I was buying and drinking, my friend said, ‘I spilled cologne on your foot.’ When I turned around, I realized I was on fire. When my clothes caught fire, I was suddenly engulfed in flames. I went to the basement of the market and threw myself on cardboard boxes to put it out, but I couldn’t. While trying to put out the flames with my hands, I burned my hands as well. I shouted, ‘Water.’ The uncle of my friend who burned me came and intervened by pouring a bucket of water on me. I was brought to the hospital by ambulance. I have been in the hospital for 20 days. I want to get better as soon as possible and leave the hospital.”
