North Korea’s Intimidating Exercise

North Korea has conducted a large-scale air defense and attack drill involving fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who personally monitored the drill, gave orders to his army to make “radical changes” and emphasized that war must be prepared at all times.
New Weapon Systems Tested in Exercise
According to a statement from state media, the drill involved a scenario for detecting and destroying enemy air attacks. It was reported that the effectiveness of air defense missiles and radar systems were tested in the drill, while new-generation long-range precision-guided bombs were also tested. Participants included fighter jets and a large number of UAVs.
Kim: “I Have Full Confidence in the Air Force”
Speaking during the exercise, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that the air force played a key role in the country's defense. "I have full confidence in all of our pilots and soldiers in protecting North Korean airspace and the safety of our people," said Kim, adding that the pilots gained experience in modern air combat methods through this exercise.
Call for “Radical Change” in War Preparations
Kim Jong-un, in his message to the armed forces, stated that they must be on guard at all times against a “possible war.” He instructed the military to continuously develop air defense systems, electronic warfare equipment and anti-drone systems. These steps show that the Pyongyang government continues to escalate military tensions in the region.
Tensions Rising in the Region
Recent weapons tests, ballistic missile launches and military activity on the border have further increased tensions on the Korean Peninsula. North Korea’s latest drill is seen as a sign that tensions with South Korea and the US will deepen further.
