Memur-Sen: This process is an opportunity for the Arbitration Board to repair its damaged image

No agreement was reached in the 8th Term Collective Agreement negotiations, which will determine the raises to be given to civil servants and retired civil servants in 2026 and 2027. Memur-Sen released a striking statement regarding the process.
The statement included the following statements:
As Memur-Sen, we have stated that the Public Officials Arbitration Board has functioned as a 'Public Employer Arbitration Board' and has acted as a notary instead of making fair decisions, and therefore we do not trust the Arbitrator. For this reason, we have decided not to take the 8th Term Collective Agreement to Arbitration and have not filed an application. However, since the Public Employer has gone beyond its established practices and filed an application with the Arbitration Board itself, the Arbitration process has begun today. The eyes of millions are now on the Arbitration Board.
From now on, it is the responsibility of the Arbitration Board to agree on the 58 articles recorded in the Meeting Minutes and to fairly evaluate and decide on our proposals, including the proportional increase, the increase in the base salary, and the welfare share, which will establish a wage balance in the public sector, ensure fair income distribution, protect labor peace, ensure justice in taxes, and strengthen the family.
CALL FOR NEW TRADE UNION LAW
This process presents an opportunity for the Arbitration Board to repair its tarnished image and restore its damaged reputation. The Arbitration Board should utilize this process to restore its reputation and make the most of this opportunity! If the law weren't flawed, the implementation of the 58 articles agreed upon and signed in the minutes would not have been left to the Arbitration Board's discretion. Indeed, it is no longer possible to implement collective bargaining under current union law. A new Trade Union Law must be enacted that includes the right to strike, full freedom of association, a structured Arbitration Board structured to make independent decisions, and a fair collective bargaining system.
