Huawei's HarmonyOS Could Replace Windows

Huawei , a Chinese technology company, has introduced a new version of its HarmonyOS operating system for computers. This new operating system, which is planned to be released on May 19, aims to offer a single software infrastructure for the company's smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and computers. The new operating system will be an independent ecosystem that aims to be an alternative to Windows and macOS. The PC version of HarmonyOS was developed based on the Harmony kernel and the Ark engine. The system draws attention with its ArkTS and ArkUI modules, a unified DevCo development environment for developers, and the StarShield security architecture that offers cryptographically protected storage. The operating system, which is completely independent of Android, requires the use of real names for authentication. Standing out with its privacy-focused design, HarmonyOS automatically disables camera, microphone and location access when high privacy mode is activated. In addition, thanks to full disk encryption, the contents of any flash memory or external disk cannot be accessed without unlocking the screen. Not all details have been disclosed at the moment, but the computer version of HarmonyOS will be officially released on May 19. It is currently unclear which devices it will be available on in the first phase or what kind of support it will receive from developers.
