Attack on lawyer in courthouse! Statement from Izmir Bar Association

A lawyer was physically attacked by his client's relative after leaving the hearing at the Izmir Courthouse Additional Services Building. Lawyer BG, whose neck was squeezed and whose hands were injured by nails, filed a complaint by obtaining a report of assault, while the attacker was taken into custody.

Following the incident, the Izmir Bar Association issued a written statement in response to the attack. The statement by the Bar Association stated, “Today, another colleague of ours became a victim of the climate of violence,” and included the following statements:

"Our bar association member lawyer colleague BG was subjected to verbal threats and then physically attacked by his client's relative in the courthouse corridors after a hearing he attended at the Izmir Courthouse Additional Services Building. Our colleague, who was injured by the suspect's neck being squeezed and his hands being dug into with nails, filed a complaint by obtaining a report of assault, and the attacker was taken into custody.
