CHP Member of Parliament Sezgin Tanrıkulu visited Selahattin Demirtaş , who has been imprisoned for nine years, and Dr. Selçuk Mızraklı , who has been incarcerated for over six years, at Edirne High Security Prison. Following the prison visit, Tanrıkulu stated that Demirtaş and Mızraklı were following the peace process with limited communication opportunities in prison, saying, “They believe the biggest risk is wasted time. They shared with us that this time should be utilized effectively and that legal regulations and other necessary steps should be taken as soon as possible.”
Tanrıkulu stated that there are many problems arising from implementation, beyond legal regulations, and that these problems need to be resolved simultaneously to strengthen public confidence in the process, and continued:
Unfortunately, not only has this not been done, but anti-democratic practices continue to escalate. They emphasized that this is one of the biggest risks of the process. They are in good health, but they also specifically expressed their support for peace under all circumstances and the need to lay down arms.
