Mucilage alert off Kınalıada, sea slobber seen from the air

The reappearance of mucilage, which was previously seen in the Marmara Sea in 2007-2008 and 2021, has caused concern. The mucilage layer detected off the coast of Kınalıada in the Adalar district was viewed by a drone. It was seen that the whitish structure covering the sea surface was spreading. While the images caused concern among the local people and tourism professionals, mucilage, which threatens the marine ecosystem, is formed especially in the summer months due to increased temperatures, pollution and stagnant water.
