19 Can't-Miss Labor Day Menswear Sales Our Editors Are Shopping

I find Labor Day to be a truly underrated holiday. In America, we have so few federal three-day weekends. The rest of the West takes off most of August, based off the Roman Feriae Augusti. Your ancestors had an August holiday in 18 BC, but you have to spend your one week of paid time if you want to see the sun. Your body feels the seasons changing, the days shortening. But you're trapped at work, practically in prison.

Labor Day gives us a long weekend when we physically need it most. It's a time to prep for the winter months ahead. And since I don't have a lawn where move earth and sow seed, I have to prep for harvest by buying clothes. Such is the life of modern man.

But at least the Labor Day style deals are good this year. Ralph Lauren, Filson, Lacoste, all the stuff I like to wear is having a pretty decent sale this Labor Day. Instead of blowing my money gambling on college football (there are 14 more weeks for that, reader) I'm going to blow it shoring up my winter wardrobe. I'm not the biggest fan of Amazon menswear, but you can get essentials for dirt cheap over there. Levi's, Lacoste, and any sort of down-range designer is available for sale. These are my personal picks.

I'm on the record as a Brooks Brothers fan.
