The AKP municipality has imposed a 1-kilometer distance requirement between men and women.

While the Directorate of Religious Affairs' scandalous statements regarding women's attire and inheritance rights continue to be a matter of debate, the Konya Metropolitan Municipality has taken a step that will cause a new controversy.
BOTH SEPARATE HOTEL AND 1 KILOMETER DISTANCE
The AKP-led Konya Metropolitan Municipality has separated the hotels of guests invited to its "Climate Workshop" into male and female rooms. As if that weren't enough, a requirement of at least one kilometer between hotels has been added to the contract.
11 MILLION 945 LIRA WILL BE SPENT According to Sözcü newspaper, the workshop, which the municipality will organize by spending 11 million 945 thousand 600 lira, is expected to be held by the end of this year.
The meeting, whose date has not been confirmed, will be attended by 200 male and female guests. The female and male climate ambassadors participating in the workshop, which will be held as part of the National Youth Conference and Climate Ambassadors event, will be hosted in separate hotels.
IT WAS ADDED TO THE CONTRACT It was added to the contract that the guests, including students, teachers, academics, environmentalists and municipality personnel, will be hosted in a segregated manner and will stay in hotels "at least 1 kilometer apart."
