He was hospitalized after checking the gas leak in the cylinder with a lighter

Living in Istanbul and arriving at his summer house in the Demiroluk village of the Adaklı district of Bingöl with his wife Nebat 5 days ago, Ali Besili checked the gas cylinder valve while trying to prepare tea on the stove in the kitchen to relieve his tiredness from the road, but no gas came.
Besili wanted to check with a lighter whether there was a gas leak in the cylinder. In the meantime, a flash occurred due to gas compression and a fire broke out in the kitchen part of the house. Besili, who was seriously injured due to the fire and flash, made great efforts to take the kitchen cylinder outside.

🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsAfter the fire in the house was extinguished with the help of his neighbors, Besili was taken to Bingöl State Hospital and after the intervention there, he was transferred to Erzurum City Hospital Burn Treatment Center.
Besili, who suffered second and third degree burns on his face, head, right hand and some parts of his body, is still receiving treatment.
Ali Besili told AA correspondent that he was very sorry about the unfortunate event that happened to him.
Besili, who explained that he and his wife placed the items in the village house, continued as follows:
"The lady said, 'We came from the road, we are tired, let's make some tea and have breakfast.' Then I put water in the pot and turned on the stove, but it didn't light. I tried 3-4 times but it didn't work. Then I tried to open the cylinder, I shook it and checked if it was full or empty, but it still didn't light. Then when I checked the cylinder valve, I heard a gas sound but the stove wouldn't light. I wanted to check the gas leak in the cylinder with a lighter, when I lit the lighter, I heard a loud noise, there was a flash and a fire started."
Besili stated that a fire broke out in the kitchen later and that he was able to place the gas cylinder in the kitchen cabinet on the balcony after much effort.
Stating that the plastic balcony door caught fire in a short time, Besili said, "When the door caught fire, all the flames surrounded me, then I left the cylinder and ran away. I wanted to save myself, I was afraid the cylinder would explode. The neighbors put out the fire. I felt no pain at that time."
"As soon as I lit the lighter, there was a flash like 'boom'"Besili, who stated that he could never forget the nightmarish event he experienced, noted the following:
"The hospital services, our doctors are very good, God bless them, they take very good care of the patients. My treatment is going well. If I had known there was a gas leak, I would not have done such a thing, there was a problem with the head of the tube. I wanted to check by holding the lighter towards the head of the tube from a distance, not from close range, just as I lit the lighter, there was a flash like a 'bang'."
Burn Treatment Center doctor Onur Ceylan also stated that Besili, who had deep second and third degree flame burns on various parts of his body, was receiving medical and dressing treatments and reminded that open flame sources such as lighters and matches should not be used in case of a gas leak.
