A forest fire broke out in the Fırnız area of ​​the Suçatı Neighborhood of the central Onikişubat district on July 28 last year. The fire was extinguished after 18 hours of work by 200 personnel with 60 vehicles, 6 helicopters and 2 planes. The fire burned 92 hectares of red pine forest, which is the size of approximately 697 football fields. As a result of the investigation launched into the cause of the fire, it was determined that MS, OK, MEB and AB, who came to Kahramanmaraş from Gaziantep to have a picnic, were joking with each other and that the fire was caused by dry grass that caught fire when a torpedo thrown by MS exploded. MS was then taken into custody and arrested by the court to which he was referred and sent to prison.

REQUEST FOR COLLECTION OF PUBLIC DAMAGES OF 43 MILLION 752 THOUSAND LIRA

Kahramanmaraş Forestry Regional Directorate submitted the report it prepared regarding the burned area to the Kahramanmaraş Public Prosecutor's Office. The report stated that the public loss for the extinguishing and afforestation of the burned area was 43 million 752 thousand liras and requested that this loss be collected from the person who caused the fire.

The investigation launched against MS, who was released after spending some time in prison, has also been completed. The public prosecutor filed a lawsuit against MS at the Kahramanmaraş 3rd High Criminal Court, requesting a prison sentence of 3 to 10 years for the crime of "causing a forest fire by negligence and contrary to the obligation of care and diligence."
