Dermatology Specialist Dr. Sena İnal Aptoula touched on the importance of healthy beautification and maintaining skin health. Dr. Aptoula emphasized that procedures must be performed in a sterile environment and by specialist physicians. She called on parents and young people to be careful, especially against interventions performed at a young age.
'AESTHETICS SHOULD BE DONE FOR HEALTH, UNCONSCIOUS PROCEDURES SHOULD BE AVOIDED'Stating that aesthetic procedures should not only be performed for the purpose of changing the appearance but also to protect the health of the skin and complete the deficiencies, Dr. Aptoula said, “Aesthetic procedures are not only procedures that give volume or change the shape, but actually include many procedures that nourish the skin, increase collagen, and provide a healthier and younger appearance to the skin. We achieve very good results with these procedures in our patients. However, the environment in which the procedures are performed and the expertise of the person performing the procedure are of great importance. Unlicensed applications can lead to serious health problems.”
'UNDER THE STREET BOTOX AND FILLERS MAY HAVE BAD RESULTS'Drawing attention to the risks of performing botox and filler procedures in uncontrolled environments, Dr. Aptoula said, “As a result of incorrect applications, serious complications such as visual impairments, facial asymmetries, shifts in fillers and infections can be seen. One of the most dangerous situations is when the filler is injected into a vein and the tissue dies. In such cases, tissue loss can occur and sometimes it cannot be fully corrected even with intervention.”
'AESTHETIC PROCEDURES FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 CARRY A GREAT RISK'Emphasizing the negative consequences of resorting to aesthetic procedures at a young age, Dr. Aptoula said, “We regretfully see procedures such as lip or facial fillers performed on 14-15 year old children. We definitely do not recommend such aesthetic interventions for individuals under the age of 18.”
Stating that the results of aesthetic applications shared on social media can be misleading, Dr. Aptoula said, “A procedure that works well for someone else may not be suitable for you. Treatments should be planned specifically for the person, their skin structure and face shape. Not every image we see on social media may be real.”
'FOR HEALTHY AND SAFE AESTHETICS, APPLICATION IN EXPERT HANDS IS A MUST'Stating that the procedures must be performed in sterile environments such as hospitals and by specialists such as dermatologists or plastic surgeons, Specialist Dr. Aptoula said, “If excessive pain is felt during the procedure or if a worrying situation occurs after the procedure, a specialist should be consulted immediately. Delays can aggravate complications.”
