5 cancer drugs included in SGK's reimbursement list

Speaking after the cabinet meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that some drugs were included in the SGK reimbursement scope.

Stating that there were problems in health when they came to power, Erdoğan said, "70 percent of our population was under the social security umbrella; now we have taken almost all of it under the social security umbrella. In 2024, 504 million prescriptions were covered by the SGK. The cost of the drugs used in these prescriptions is 305 billion lira."

Erdoğan also reminded us of the drugs that were previously covered by the SGK reimbursement and said:

"We have also added the anti-bleeding drug that can be easily applied subcutaneously at home to our reimbursement list for hemophilia A patients. We have also taken similar steps in the treatment of our children with SMA.

We are including 5 different smart cancer drugs used in the treatment of 25 different cancer diseases within the scope of SSI reimbursement. We are taking a meaningful step for our 48 thousand cancer patients.

"Previously, our patients were obtaining these cancer drugs with their own means and suing the Social Security Institution."

IŞIKHAN: NUMBER ON REFUND LIST INCREASED TO 784

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan also made the following statement in his post, recalling Erdoğan's statements:

"We are including 5 immunotherapy drugs, which are applied against 25 different cancer subtypes together with the body's own immune system, within the reimbursement scope of our Social Security Institution.

"With the regulation, 48 thousand cancer patients will benefit from these treatments. With the regulation, the number of cancer drugs on the reimbursement list will increase to 784."
