There are companies without a taxable base in the major leagues

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said that they will permanently station tax officers at the entrances and exits of all OIZs and on the main arteries of metropolitan cities to detect tax evaders. Şimşek, who aims to increase tax revenues, explained the practice as "ensuring justice in taxation." However, it was seen that Turkey's largest industrial establishments failed in terms of taxation after incentives and exceptions.

Among the companies that do not pay taxes is STAR Refinery, which ranks third on the list of the country's largest industrial establishments. It was revealed that STAR Refinery did not declare its tax base in 2024. STAR Refinery, one of the SOCAR Turkey group companies, did not declare its tax base in 2021, and despite the tax base declaration, no taxes were accrued in 2022 and 2023.

According to the company's tax records, no tax was accrued to the company in 2021 after the exemptions, discounts and exemptions deducted from its revenue. The company, which did not pay any tax in 2022 despite a tax base of 19 billion 751 million liras, also did not pay tax in 2023 despite a tax base of 26 billion 703 million liras. In 2024, the tax base was not declared again.

Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş., which ranks second on the list of industrial establishments, was charged 164 million lira in taxes despite an announcement of a tax base of 10 billion 834.4 million lira after deducting taxes and exemptions in 2024. Only 1.5 percent of the tax base was taxed.

TÜPRAŞ, where businesses have been protesting for days against the imposition of low increases, ranks first in the list of the country's largest industrial establishments. TÜPRAŞ has accrued 2 billion 325.4 million liras in taxes despite declaring a tax base of 19 billion 38.3 million liras in 2024.
