TCDD hits the gas at a loss

The Turkish State Railways (TCDD), which has been unable to avoid losses during the AKP government, hasn't spared its reputation and has spent millions on representation and promotion expenses. TCDD, which lost 36.5 billion lira in 2024, has seen its total losses between 2002 and 2024 rise to 84.049 billion lira.
HE DIDN'T GIVE UP ON CHOCOLATE
As citizens' demand for savings in public sector increases daily, the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and its subsidiary, TCDD Technical Engineering and Consulting Inc., have poured their money into chocolate. Between April 2024 and June 2025 alone, TCDD paid 1,709,000 TL for chocolates. TCDD paid 460,600 TL for 980 chocolates purchased from Liva and 434,750 TL for 925 chocolates. The company also paid 443,700 TL for 870 boxes of madeleine chocolates purchased from Divan.
TCDD, which has a monopoly in rail transportation, constantly raises train ticket prices, but its losses are also increasing.
