Penalty for real estate agents' '1 TL' advertisement

MİTHAT YURDAKUL / Ankara - In the last meeting of the Advertisement Board, the housing advertisements given by real estate agents were put on the table. Despite the ministry’s decision requiring the real value of the property to be written in for sale advertisements, real estate agents who caused citizens to call and try to find out the price by writing “1 TL” instead of the real value of the real estate were detected. In their defense, real estate agents stated that they wrote “1 TL” because the price information section on the platform was mandatory. One company also claimed that “the advertisement was created as a draft not to be published and was later shared by the office employee by mistake.”
'Misleading and deceptive'
On the other hand, in the decision made as a result of the board’s review, it was evaluated that “It was clear that the amount included in the promotions would not be the sales price of a real estate, therefore the price information did not reflect the truth and misleading consumers were caused by providing incomplete information about the price information, and on the other hand, it was seen that no substantiating information and documents were presented regarding the issue.” In accordance with the relevant articles of the Regulation on Commercial Advertisement and Unfair Commercial Practices and the Law on Consumer Protection, the board removed 10 advertisements belonging to the companies Başak Emlak, Efem Emlak, İntak Gayrimenkul , Kıyga Group İnşaat Emlak, Özbay Emlak Gayrimenkul Danışmanlık, Tuğra Emlak, Tuna Emlak, Tunahan İnşaat Emlak, Yerli Emlak, and Yadem Gayrimenkul.
