Türk-İş has published the June 2025 results of its hunger and poverty line survey, which it conducts regularly every month to reveal the living conditions of employees and to determine the effects of price changes in basic necessities on family budgets.

The minimum monthly food expenditure (hunger threshold) that a family of four living in Ankara must make to have a balanced and adequate diet was calculated as 26,115 lira.

In addition to food expenses, the total monthly expenditure that a household must make, including clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, health and other mandatory expenses, i.e. the poverty line , increased to 85,065 lira.

The poverty line has reached almost 4 times the minimum wage. According to this calculation, a household of 4 with 2 children can only be "poor" assuming that the children also receive minimum wage .

The cost of living for a single worker also reached 33,586 lira this month, 11,482 lira above the minimum wage.

According to Türk-İş data, food inflation, which refers to the change in spending on food, increased by 4.08 percent in June compared to the previous month. The annual increase in June was 37.60 percent, while the annual average increase was recorded as 44.58 percent. The total increase rate in the first six months of 2025 was 23.87 percent.
