Entrance fee to the popular holiday island of Turks is 942 lira per person

According to DW Turkish, the practice announced by the Greek Ministry of Finance came into effect on July 1 and will be valid throughout the tourism season from June 1 to September 30.
On smaller islands the tax is set at 5 euros (approximately 234 TL).
2.3 BILLION REVENUE PER YEARAuthorities aim to generate around 50 million euros (2.3 billion TL) in revenue annually from these taxes.
The income is planned to be used in infrastructure investments, especially to increase port capacity, to solve problems such as traffic, water shortages, waste management and environmental pollution caused by excessive tourism.
Cruise tourism in Greece has increased significantly in recent years. The number of passengers visiting Mykonos and Santorini has exceeded 1.3 million.
Although a daily passenger limit of 8,000 has been set for Santorini in 2023, it was stated that four ships carrying approximately 8,400 passengers will dock at the port on the day the tax starts.
Local businesses complain about cruise passengers’ short visits and low spending, while some residents point out the air pollution caused by the ships. The new tax was implemented with a law passed last year.
