Decision regarding TİP members protesting the Red Crescent selling tents

Following the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, the Turkish Red Crescent's sale of tents to earthquake-affected areas sparked widespread outrage. Eighty-seven members and executives of the Turkish Workers' Party (TKP) who staged a protest in Kadıköy were put on trial on charges of "Opposition to Meetings and Demonstrations."
UP TO 3 YEARS OF PRISON WAS REQUESTED
The indictment had sought prison sentences of six months to three years for the defendants. The case was heard in the 44th Criminal Court of First Instance of the Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse. However, the court acquitted all defendants.
TİP Chairman Erkan Baş made a statement after leaving the courthouse.
Baş said, "Is this case over because the people here were acquitted? What will happen to those thieves? What will happen to Kerem Kınık? As long as this injustice, this unfairness continues, our case will never end."
Erkan Bas said:
While conscientious people across Türkiye were striving to help, some parasites exploited the Red Crescent for financial gain. They exploited the Red Crescent for financial gain. While tens of thousands of people were shivering in the cold on the streets, a group of scoundrels began selling the Red Crescent's tents to people for money. They didn't take responsibility with the taxes we paid. We did not turn a blind eye to this vileness! Who are you, Kerem Kınık? By what right can you use the tents entrusted to you for personal gain? If you sell them for money, you are a scoundrel.
The most honest people in this country were detained for protesting the vile people selling tents. They were put on trial for turning a blind eye to this injustice for two and a half years.
Is this case over because the people here were acquitted? What will become of those thieves? What will become of Kerem Kınık? As long as this injustice, this unfairness, continues, our case will never end. True justice will surely come to this country one day. Those who defend this system, a handful of wealthy individuals, will definitely be held accountable. I want to thank all my friends. We do not accept this injustice and lawlessness. 87 public officials were not prosecuted in this country, those who sold the tents were not prosecuted in this country. The final word will be the sweat of their brow.
Erkan Baş: They used the Red Crescent to make money. While tens of thousands of people were shivering in the cold on the streets, a group of scoundrels began selling the Red Crescent's tents to people for money... We did not turn a blind eye to this despicable act! pic.twitter.com/ly08W2yo0A
