Build and operate highways, don't pay taxes!

The projects implemented under the AKP government with the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) methods have created a black hole in the public budget. PPP and BOT projects have caused large amounts of public resources to be transferred to certain companies. Due to the passage guarantees given recklessly, companies operating bridges and highways have added capital to their capital.

The tax payment reports of the companies operating the three major bridge and highway projects built with the BOT model revealed the scandal. It was determined that the companies operating the roads and bridges where thousands of vehicles pass every day did not pay a single penny of tax.

According to the data of the Revenue Administration , Çanakkale Highway and Bridge Construction Investment and Operation Inc., which did not pay any taxes in the 2021-2023 period, did not pay any in 2024. "Without Tax Base" was written in the tax base and accrual list of the company operating the Çanakkale Bridge and highway for the years 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

The company, which holds the operating rights of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway, also wrote its name among the companies that do not pay taxes. The company , which did not declare income and did not pay taxes in 2021, 2022 and 2023, did not break the tradition in 2024 either.

It was learned that the operator of the Northern Marmara Motorway, which was built with the Build-Operate-Transfer model, did not pay taxes by not declaring income. The operator, Avrupa Otoyolu Yatırım ve İşletme A.Ş., did not pay a single penny of tax in the four years covering the years 2021 and 2024.
