55,479 TL to Erdoğan, 2,412 TL to retirees

The 6-month inflation rate of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) remained at 16.67 percent. With this inflation, the 15.57 percent raise for civil servants and civil servant retirees, and 16.67 percent raise for workers, tradesmen and farmers retirees as of July has been finalized. With the new raise, President Tayyip Erdoğan's monthly income will increase by 55 thousand 479 liras, and Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek's monthly income will increase by 51 thousand 821 liras. Only 2 thousand 412 liras were deducted from the July raise for the lowest retiree. 10.07 percent of the 15.57 percent raise for civil servants and civil servant retirees consists of the inflation difference and 5 percent consists of the collective agreement raise. With this increase, the salary of the lowest civil servant (single, unionized) who received 42 thousand 882 liras increased by 6 thousand 677 liras to 49 thousand 558 liras as of July. The salary of the lowest retired civil servant also increased by 3 thousand 47 liras to 22 thousand 617 liras, exceeding the minimum wage.

NO MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

With the 16.67 percent increase to be made to retired workers, tradesmen and farmers, the lowest retirement salary, which is currently 14,469 lira, will increase by 2,412 lira and reach 16,881 lira. A new law will be enacted to make this increase. With the new increase, all retired people whose monthly salary is 18,946 lira and above but is below the minimum wage will exceed the minimum wage.

The monthly salary of the widow of the lowest retired worker is 12 thousand 542 lira, and the monthly salary of the orphan child is 4 thousand 180 lira. The widow of the MP will receive 111 thousand 841 lira, and the orphan child will receive 37 thousand 281 lira. Since the minimum wage increase is determined by the commission, not even a penny has been deducted from these increases for the minimum wage earner.

The cream of the hike has gone to the top

With the regulation made this year, the President's salary was included in the automatic increase by being indexed to '5 percent more than the salary of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey'. With the new increase, Erdoğan's salary increased to 252 thousand 227 lira, and the pension of a retired deputy to 149 thousand 121 lira. Thus, Erdoğan's total monthly income increased by 55 thousand 479 lira to 411 thousand 800 lira. With the new increase, the salary of a minister became 235 thousand 527, the salary of a deputy became 229 thousand 676, the pension of a retired deputy became 149 thousand, and the income of deputies who also receive a pension became 379 thousand TL.
