'Freedom for İmamoğlu' banner in front of the European Parliament

In front of the European Parliament in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, Türkiye Rapporteur Nacho Sanchez Amor, the President of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the Parliament Iratxe Garcia Perez and the MPs in the group opened a banner reading "Freedom for İmamoğlu".

Amor shared on social media, "Many members of the Socialists and Democrats Group of the European Parliament, including President Iratxe Garcia Perez, are in solidarity with Ekrem İmamoğlu today. Attacks on local democracy and the main opposition in Türkiye continue unabated in İzmir, the stronghold of the CHP, with more than 150 people, including former Mayor Tunç Soyer, being detained yesterday."
