🔹 AA Live for instant developmentsMungan, who stated that the motifs he embroidered on his kites attracted everyone's attention, said, "I've been sewing my own kites professionally since I was 14. I mostly embroider stories and mythologies from Mardin culture onto my kites."
Mungan stated that he has participated in festivals held in 38 countries to date.
Mungan, explaining that he prioritizes incorporating cultural elements into the kites he designs, said, "I've received invitations from 38 countries so far. I participate in kite festivals there. They attach greater importance to the culture I weave into my kites, as they often have a story to tell. One of the kites I've made is a shahmaran kite. The streets in our neighborhood are very narrow. Because they're narrow, donkeys have to pick up our loads. That's why I've made donkey kites, Mardin pigeons, and peacock kites, which are part of the Yazidi culture. This is how I weave our culture into my kites."
Mungan stated that the kite that attracted the most attention abroad was the "shahmeran".
Mungan, noting that kites are the most loyal ambassadors of tourism, said:
"Abroad, people ask specifically about the Shahmaran kite. I explain it to them. I mention that it's a mythology. It has a story stretching from Tarsus to India. That's why people find it interesting. We've held an international kite festival in Mardin for years. That's why kite festivals contribute greatly to tourism. We contribute to tourism thanks to the kite festivals we hold. We can actually say that kites are an ambassador for tourism."
Mungan stated that he also participates in festivals held within the country and added that he designed various kites to prevent the loss of kite culture and to encourage children, especially those who are constantly in front of their phones, tablets and computers.
